Coca Cola Blak
« on: May 26, 2006, 04:09:37 PM »
Anyone heard of this or tried it yet?  I saw a sign for it in Target yesterday...

From Wikipedia:

"Coca-Cola BlaK is a coffee-flavored soda introduced by Coca-Cola in 2006. The mid-calorie drink was introduced first in France, before making its way to the United States and other markets.

Coca-Cola Blak launched in the United States on April 3, 2006.

Consumer Reports taste testers found the French version to be less sweet and to contain more coffee flavor. The French version has sugar in place of the high fructose corn syrup of the American version.

The American version has a plastic resealable cap on a glass bottle that resembles the classic Coke bottle, whereas the French version is a bottle shape formed from aluminium."

I liked it, but I am a big coffee addict.  It's not something I would drink all the time, but when I'm really dragging I've found it gives me a boost.

I also tried the new Tab Energy, mostly because it's pink.  Not all that crazy about it.  It tastes like a liquid Jolly Rancher.

The flavor of this atrocity was akin to that of licking an ashtray!  It should be called Coca Cola BLECHHH

I've tried the Pepsi/coffee one, but not seen this one yet.
Im puzzled over the pronunciation... at first thought it seems it should be pronounced 'black', but when you look at the label, it's got the 'long' symbol over the 'a', so doesnt that mean it should be pronounced 'blake'?   ???

On this cheezy website http://www.coca-colablak.com/us/index.jsp they pronounce it like black. But on the bottle pictured on that website it's not a straight line over the A in the word Blak. It's more like a tilde (used in spanish).  ???

I had to try this today after reading your message, and you're spot on...it really does taste like a liquid Jolly Rancher!!!  (Of course, I happen to like Jolly Ranchers....)  :)

My bf gets drinks it all the time. I tried it once, which was one time too many. I couldn't get the taste out of my mouth. You can get it in single bottles at some gas stations.

Finally tried one....

Meh....

It wasn't horrible, but I didn't like it enough to buy it again.

Ohhh...I like coca cola Zero.   Won't try Blak, as I hate all things coffee flavoured...which is why at 8 am, the only thing in my system is a Coke Zero.  Gotta get caffeine somehow.
