Pregnant when applying for visa/leave
« on: May 28, 2006, 12:50:47 PM »
Just wondering,

Has anyone here applied for any type of visa or leave to remain, in person, whilst they were pregnant?

If so, how far along with you?

How did it go?

I'm not pregnant, but I am trying and I'm worried that the latter part of my pregnancy might coincide with when I have to apply for ILR.

I really want to apply in person because
1) I don't like sending off our passports and 2 years worth of documents in the post
2) I want to be there so I can correct any small errors or misunderstandings. For example, when I applied for my fiance visa, my interviewer said my fiance's letter wasn't acceptable.  But then I clarified things with him (He'd combined two letters into one) and everything was OK. If I had sent my paperwork via mail, the visa may have come back refused.

Don't see what difference it would make, tbh, considering many people apply for ILR after having born children to British partners/spouses and applying in person doesn't have to require any air travel.

I applied by post when my elder daughter about 4 months old - that's when I became eligible for it - and provided a self-addressed Special Delivery envelope for them to send back our documents.

It went off just fine.

Even if it's refused, you're allowed to remain here whilst the application is reconsidered.

Thanks.  I'm more concerned about being heavily pregnant (possibly with complications) than about bringing a child to the interview.

You'd only be travelling from York to... where?  Liverpool?

I cant see that being a problem...
