Favorite English pudding?
« on: May 30, 2006, 12:48:16 PM »
Is it just me, or are the puddings here sooooooo fab?????
I have an incurable sweet tooth and too much time on my hands.
I'm thinking of puddings. What's your fave?
Last night, had treacle sponge with custard. mmmmmmmm.

Bread & butter pudding!! My absolute fave. Granted, it's more or less the same as bread pudding back in the US, but at least here I'm guaranteed it's always going to be on the menu! :)

Sticky toffee, or this warm chocolate pudding that DH made once (sort of like a warm, gooey fudgy brownie baked in a individual-sized ramekin), but TBH, I'm not all that keen on most of the warm British puddings and I don't like hot/warm custard (though I'll eat it cold).

Why did I read this?  I am now horribly craving bread pudding, as it is my fave as well.  Guess I'll just add it to my must have food when I get off the plane!   :)

I love malt loaf! Wouldn't touch the stuff at first. Now I'm truly addicted.
I'd count it as a pud. It's sweet and oh so good!!!!

Another Sticky Toffee vote. People demand I bring it back when I visit New York.

But to add a pseudo-health option, you can't really beat a bramley apple and rhubarb crumble -partic. if you've had the satisfaction of pulling your own rhubarb out of the garden.

And clotted cream basically improves every last thing on earth.

I'm partial to apple-blackberry crumble, myself. And I like the way my aunt makes it -- with both blackberries and apples from her own garden. You can't beat that!

And clotted cream basically improves every last thing on earth.

That's the "pseudo" part, right? ;)
