Removal companies in London
« on: May 31, 2006, 12:04:01 AM »
Hi,

I am ready to move pretty quickly here, and I am wondering if anyone can reccomend a removal company for London? I have 1 large suitcase, 1 small, a TV, etc. A pretty small move really, but across 9 miles.

Thanks  :)

Let's take our wigs off in the shopi aisle and fight it out.

i'm not too sure i would look into a removal company.  if you only have small things (no furniture), how about getting a taxi?  it might sound funny...but it might also save you a few quid (i can't take credit for the idea tho cuz i know someone who did it...i can only take the credit for the suggestion ;-) )

or if you didn't want to call a taxi, you could consider hiring a car for the day.  if you rent a 4-door and you are the only passenger, i'm sure you could fit a load of stuff in it, as well as in the boot.  that should only be about 30 quid (or less).  you could get a friend or two to help you load your stuff and then you could unload it yourself (assuming you didn't have anything that was overly heavy).

Well, I found this:

http://www.friendlymovers.co.uk/

and this:

http://www.cshire.co.uk/index.php

The only thing is that I am not supposed to carry weight because of a back injury. and £35 is really good for 9 miles, and the man. (the other one is £58, which is still quite good).

The minicab people won't take luggage, and Black Taxis...er, avoid this part of London.  :-\\\\

Thanks so far, though. :)

I'd definitely suggest someone like the friendlymovers people.  We moved recently and went with a similar local company -- they only charged us 120 for a full house move and had the entire thing done in less than 2 hours.  The arrived at the old house around 10:30 and we were completely moved into the new house before noon.  Not a scratch on anything!  ;)

What about some strong friends? Or coworkers? Take them out for a pint afterwards, and I'm sure they'd be happy to help you! :)

Good suggestion, H!  Sprigged, you're surrounded by college boys -- they'll move you for a couple of pints!  ;D
