I have to leave the water running hot as well becaues of our combi-coiler, if I turn any hot water tap on in our hosue anything less than full blast, it only statys on for about 4 seconds. A. Noy. Ing. So full blast it is... and I just use rubber gloves to handle the heat.

I do the rubber gloves thing too.  I fill my sink with super hot water and Fairy, then rinse with cold water.  Often my water is so hot that I use Tesco brand garden/heavy duty gloves.  They are black and ugly, but by god do they protect my hands, and they don't break like those flimsy thin ones.
Insert wonderfully creative signature here …

I like the flimsy ones cuz they're pink.

I have hands of solid lead. My water is dead hot and I leave it running on medium strong flow all the time - all through dish washing and any time Im cooking (I HAVE to wash my hands all the time during cooking - another topic entirely). Our combi doesnt flick on and off with the taps because we have a HUUGE hotel sized tank in the boiler room - some rennovation cowboy blessed me with hours upon hours of hot water any time I want it.

Ok So - when cooking how often do you wash your hands??

My husband will touch meat and rinse his hands (no soap) and then go around touching pots and and pans and the like. I wash my hands (soap and water) after any contact with or anything thats been in contact with meat and eggs.

I'm a frequent hand washer. Another reason to have hot soapy water in the sink. Sometimes my hands get gooed with stuff and I first dip my hands in and then turn on the taps and grab for the soap.

what a good idea! if I get caught with meaty hands and the taps are off I end up having to elbow them on and rinse before I go for the soap bottle. Thats fun! No really :P

I am also a frequent hand washer...  anytime I pet the dog, I wash my hands...anytime I am about to touch food, I wash my hands...and after finished with food, I wash my hands...  along with the dish liguid, we have a container that holds hand soap...and also a bottle of moisturizer...after ever couple washes, I put moisturizer on hands as well...

Oh Iam a hand washer too.I believe that not only is it sanitary but it does stop nasty germs, and helps you from getting sick and spreading them

I think that the schools dont  encourage the children enough about that,at least here in the states they dont seem to do.

Eew.

I never actually saw my s.o. doing the dishes while he was here-he always did them while I was at work(even though I have a dishwasher!). Do you mean to say he might not have rinsed them?? :o

"I don't know Kiz.  But have you ever accidentally tasted dish soap? YUCK. I drank coke once out of a glass that wasn't rinsed well and it was horrible.  "

Ha! I drank liquid soap thanks to my son pouring some in my coke when he 2yrs. old. Gulp...ahhhhh!!...and just as we were on our way out the door for thanksgiving dinner. I got really sick and had to stay home.  :-X
He's now 18...i'll have to tell him that story, I'm sure he'll get a kick out of it!

Thank you UKY! >:( ( :P )
This thred sparked a weirdly heavy "debate"  [smiley=argue.gif](kinda) between me and Snupy my s.o. ~ I can't beleive how seriously you Americans take the Rinse vs No Rinse debate!

Just to stir up the American conspiracy theorists ~ Just cos it says "Rinse cycle" on the front of the dishwasher ~ Have you noticed that they NEVER have windows on the doors (as most clothes washing machines do!), so how do you KNOW that THEY rinse! :o

Viva la difference! I say!! I would rather hand wash than leave dirty dishes for ages until dishwasher fills up enough to do a proper wash!

So as Broxi speculated on the matter above:
 Did I or didn't I, when i stayed at Snupys, (rinse I mean!) ~ Well all I can say is :-X !!!

And I don't believe anyone has even mentioned the Drip Dry Vs Spread Bugs with a Tea Towel Drying arguement! [smiley=stunned.gif]

Oh, now you've done it, Mr Snupy!

Definitely AIR DRY!
Not out of laziness, honestly... it's just the way i was taught / brought up.

My MIL towel dries the dishes... and if you go to wash your hands in the kitchen and use the tea towel to dry them, she goes mental.
In my house, the tea towels are only used for drying freshly washed hands... the towels dont touch the dishes.
