what do you cook the most??
« on: June 06, 2006, 01:12:49 AM »
Most of us are creatures of habit....what is it that you cook often?

Mine is pasta....spagetti and salad is an all time favorite for me. ;D  I try to only cook it twice a month now.  And I mix it up a bit by adding sauteed veggies to the sauce.  One of the few dishes I like as leftovers too!

For the most part I don't repeat recipes.  :-[   There's just too many to try!   ;D  But I guess I'd have to say that I make omelets with some frequency.

I got into a bad habit of having a grilled meat, chicken or pork chops, starch (potatoes or rice) and salad.  Add to that, raw veg or crudites.  It came out of time constraints, what my kids would eat, and me just not being able to focus on cooking.  I used to cook something different every night.  I recently tried a few recipes so I think I'll start cooking again..

I'm with MrsPink, anything grilled. Add a potato or rice and a nice salad and you've got dinner! Its a shame really, I love to cook and have some great cook books. I should dig them out.

Chicken Stirfry with rice.  Whenever I try to change it up substituting beef or prawns for the chicken, I don't like it as much.  I always make enough so I can take it to work the next day.

While nothing seems to come out the same twice...

we do Spag bol, currys, stri fry, rice variations eg Paella, arrroz con pollo, rice with beans, tacos/Mexican/Tex-Mex, and lately eggs benedict (strange craving!)... with frequency....

even after being married for 5 years I still find things I have not made for my DH...

My husband and I usually have a knack for having chicken, beef, or pork with chips or some other form of potatoes. My favorite thing to make, personally, is bean burritos with loads of salsa, e.t.c.  :P

Pasta for me too, all kinds.  One of DD's fav's is just plain old noodles with butter and salt and a veg.

We do lots of pasta too.  And I'm with Cait about the large on pot dishes.  Soups/stews or casseroles...I love making them.  I guess it's the easy leftover thing.

Burritos.  It's our I-don't-feel-like-cooking meal.  Probably followed by stir-fry as a close second.  Both so quick and easy... and usually with leftovers for lunch the next day.

Ours too!  The kids can make it which is the beauty of it!

Since moving here, we've gotten in the habit of having Sunday Roast.  And if we can't do it on Sunday, we have it during the week.  We all just enjoy it so much and roast suppers have become quite easy for me as I can do all the prep earlier in the day.  And the kids do the washing up!
