Here's my itinerary for next week... just wondering if anyone knows anything in particular that I may not about the area(s)...?

Nairn, Invernessshire
Laide, by Achnasheen
Skeabost Bridge, Isle of Skye
Strathblane (Glasgow)

...and then fly back from Edinburgh.

I went to Nairn... was a pass through place for me- spend the night and move on, decent hub to see what's around. All I can remember about it is the half of a red car attached to the side of a building and that's where you can transfer to a bus to the airport.

Scotland is lovely  [smiley=smitten.gif] you'll have a good time!

I have a feeling a few of these places are 'pass-throughs' for exactly what you said - to see areas nearby.
I've never been so far North  ;D

Well, as jklm pointed out, they really are 'hubs' or stopovers for the night... on our way to places like Loch Lomond, etc., and along the West Coast.
Ne'er ye mind, I was just curious!

Hope you have  a lovely time... are your parents still here?

They left London for Edinburgh on Saturday, to pick up a rental car and head up the East Coast... and I've not heard from them since!  So I'm going to assume they're okay... I only fear for my dad not getting too stressed behind the wheel, as well as understanding what the locals are saying to him. ;)
I fly up to Inverness on Friday to meet them and go down the West Coast together.
I'm only hoping that because we'll be distracted by our adventure in driving and seeing new sites, I won't hear any more about my - weight, life choices, finances, etc.  ::)

 ;)

If you get the chance, drive around Skye.  The island is breathtaking!  There's also Eilean Donan and Dunvegan castles.  Well worth a wee detour.

it's malt whisky country up there. Check out a distillery tour... loads of info on things to see and do leaflets lined up along the wall once you step off the plane in Inverness.

But oh, the material - my writing and stand up is my therapy.
A high price to pay, but... ;)

Thanks for the further tips; I'll see what they've been up to when I get there!

Hello from the northeast,
Just to give you a taste for Speyside, lots to see and do here in the area east of Nairn around the Elgin area. Over 50% of all malt whisky is located here.

Holy weather Batman!

It's supposed to be 82F tomorrow in Inverness?!?!?  :o

I mean, I figured it'd be mild and pleasant, but...
guess I'll pack a couple more t-shirts.
