Share your Funny cat stories
« on: June 10, 2006, 06:26:21 AM »
I know there are a lot of cat people here.  Please talk about your cats and share funny stories.

My cat, Linus, is 8.  We are just switching her over to senior food.  She has been on the same food all her life and she is  a picky eater.  The only thing she'll eat other than her food, is cantaloupe and the liquid from the tuna can.  And even that, she has a taste and that's it.  So when I knew we needed to switch her over, I started mixing the new food with the old, adding a bit more everyday, so that she could get used to it gradually and we would do it over a few weeks.  Well the silly cat, she LOVES the new food and eats around the old kibbles, eating only the new ones.  So much for my plan.  I could have just mixed it for a few days and she would have been happy.  Now she's got to eat the mixed food for a while... ::)

I'm not really a cat person, but my sister has one cat (outdoor).

This cat has convinced herself that she is a dog. She will climb over the fence into the dog pen, drink out of their huge water bucket, eat dog treats, and meow to be let out of the pen (even though she can climb out on her own.)

She is about 10 years old and we have sewn extra bells onto her collar, but she is still a mouser. Every night around 3 am the cat is outside my bedroom window, meowing and trying to get me to open the door so she can give me a "present." ICK!!!!! I have to be careful when I go outside in the morning as she usually just leaves it right by my door.  ::)

Tom - Our 13 year old family cat, lives with my mom & dad back home.  He's the kind of cat that only likes my mum and tolerates my dad, because he provides food in the morning.   They went away a couple of years ago when I was still living at home and I was supposed to feed the cat, etc.  Well I sleep considerably later than my dad, so the cat was getting his canned food at about 8 instead of 6.  So what does he do...sit out side my bedroom door meowing for 2 hours.  This went on for 3 days before he changed tactics....

The damn thing went poo right outside my bedroom door.  I nearly tread in it that morning when I got up.  I was livid.  I swear I saw him smile as I cleaned it up.

Just so I don't get accused of being a poor catsitter, He has a litter box inside and a constant supply of dry food. There was no need for his little present.

LOL!  That's funny!

My cat, Clairese, had to go to the vets 3 times in the past 2 weeks for a minor ear infection and she hates going to the vets!  She especially hates it when the scope is shoved down her ears so her ear drums can be looked at.  We had to muzzle her this past Thursday so she wouldn't bite me while the vet was checking her ear.  On the way home, she decided to punish me and peed in her carrier, which is a fabric dog carrier that has a shoulder strap for me.  So, when we got home she was soaked and her plan backfired on her when I put her in the bathtub!  Cats are so funny!!

My kitties are very attached to me.  One is a total one-person cat and a hellion to all other people, while the other is shy but comes out of her shell to play and will eventually cuddle up to you once she knows you.  But she is very sensitive to my coming and going.

This kitty KNOWS when I am packing for a trip.  Last year, I was to attend a conference in California and I had my pretty blue suitcase open to pack.  Well, Zoe was not happy with the revolting development of her mom going away for six days so the little $h!t peed right in my suitcase.  It got on my clothes I had packed too and it ruined my suitcase!   >:(  So I was forced to pack all the clothes into my carry-on bag, but if it weren't for Zoe peeing in the big bag I never would have learned how efficiently I can indeed pack a bag and how light I can travel (when I want to...  ;) ).

Ah well.  This kitty is so cute that she was of course forgiven.

This is a true story.  I kid you not!  I was just reading this thread when my husband yelled at me to come downstairs and help clean the cat.  We just had a downpour and the cat came in covered in mud.  He's actually a kitten (10 months?).  I had found him in the parking lot at work last autumn.

We tried wiping him down with wet washcloths and that wasn't working because the mud was stuck in his paws and on his belly.  DH joked that we should throw him in the tub.  I said, let's give it a try.  We held the kitten and washed him with the hand held shower nozzle.  We only did his four legs and his belly so that he wasn't completely covered in water.   Amazingly, he didn't resist it at all!   We've had a total of five cats, three still living, two deceased, and I can't imagine that any of the other four would ever allow this.

Does anyone else have a cat that tolerates being bathed?

Mine LOVES water.  She'll actually get in the tub when it's full of water if someone is having a bath.  She is locked out of the bathroom during bath times.  We can't leave the toilet seat up because she'll get into it and have a splash.  she's been bathed a few times and has tolerated it each time.

My cat, Boris.  He climbs into the shower with me.  When he was a kitten he used to try to curl up on my chest when I took a bath, much to my annoyance.

Although I have three (!) cats, one of my favorite stories happened to my friend.  She had a young (about a year old) cat who was always getting into trouble.  One morning my friend woke up to find her black cat was now completely white, from head to toe.  She walked out into the living room to see what had happened... the cat had found a large bag of powdered/confectioners sugar, opened it and managed to cover her entire apartment in powdered sugar!  Not only did my poor friend have to clean up the mess, she had to deal with a sugared-up hyper cat.  She said he ran around the apartment for HOURS before he finally crashed. :P

I once had a male cat that liked to lick (or groom) my first (now ex-) husband's hairy legs all the time.  I thought that was pretty weird.  Then I subsequently had another male cat that liked to groom my (now ex-) boyfriend's hair (on his head) and hairy armpits!  The smellier and unwashed - the better! :o  Yuck! :P

I also once had a little calico tabby and she liked to roll in the (cool) ashes of the fireplace & then spread soot all over the apartment where I lived then.  My first husband was a ceramic artist & he had a plastic tub where he slung wet clay that would eventually dry.  The calico tabby also liked rolling around in that tub -- in the dried up bits of clay. ???

Yes, "Funny Pet Stories" would make a great new title!  Some people like other types of pets, and I know they can be funny too.

As for cats tolerating bathing, Spaz will be nice---only crying pathetically when she gets bathed.  I dipped her when I first took her in, and this 20-pound Norwegian Forest Cat sounded like a 3-pounder with her wimpy little cry.  The few times I've ever had to bathe her, she's run like the wind and hidden afterwards.  She doesn't like people seeing her wet.

We used to have a guinea pig, Mister, who was so sweet, but dumb as a rock.  He once got the 2 pigloos in his cage facing each other to where the "doorways" created a tunnel.  He couldn't figure out how to get out, and his cagemate had to knock one pigloo out of the way to liberate him.  Mister was also the one who let my daugher polish his toenails gold.  He looked like a piggy pimp with that bling-type polish!  We lost that silly boy 3½ years ago, and I still miss him.
