I let the book chose me rather than the other way round most of the time.

very true!! I have been recommended many books or heard about books or given books of interest and for one reason or another never get around to reading them or start and then drop them... and then I pick it up out of the blue and wow. it is amazing how life experience can alter how you read and understand something. I think The Celestine Prophecy talks about this kind of thing.

c'mon... no one admits the cover or title teases their interest?  ;)

I have two huge bookshelves stuffed with books I have never read.  I could probably run a small library!  So, I just grab one from there.  When we go to a bookstore, I just pick random books that look good or go for the classics, that's how I stock my mini library :P

I get a lot of suggestions from NPR.  They do great interviews w/ authors and also post the interviews on their website, www.npr.org   Also, one of my absolute favorite places is a bookstore.  I can spend ages browsing the aisles.  I'm hoping that I will be able to join a book club once I'm moved.
