Recommendations for dentists in Edinburgh & beyond

It's time to see the dentist, and I don't know where to go.

Several folks have written that they have terrific dentists. Could we post the town names and names of the dentists that people like? It would help those of us who are relatively new here to find good dentists.

Of course I'm interested in finding a dentist specifically in the Edinburgh area (west lothian or midlothian), but a broader geographic range could help others in the same boat.

They are private dentists..

I go to Robin Thomson in the 'Lithgae' High Street.
I was in there last week and overheard the receptionist telling someone that they're  not taking on new NHS patients, but the other dentist up the road (further east up the High Street) still takes NHS patients.

How does one go about finding a dentist that takes NHS patients?  Do I just start flipping through the phone book and calling practices?

That's really all you can do.
If you look at their adverts in the yellow pages, it might say they take NHS, but you could find that when you phone them, they've met their quota of NHS patients, so arent taking on any more.

You'll really have to phone or visit them.
