Steve made us a Parkin Cake (cos I've had too much other work to do). It's looking a wee bit flat & he used Demerara Sugar instead of Brown Sugar - but hey, he made it & I'm sure it'll taste good.

...a wonderful man that does not have the most discerning palate.

I tested out my new slow cooker with a simple recipe using chicken, cream of mushroom soup and rice. The rice completely broke down... as it would after 8 hours cooking.
It was a glutinous mess!

He just keep eating and telling me how good it was!!

i make that, but pour it over the rice after cooking.
Nevermind... a lesson learned for next time!

Exactly! The chicken was actually nice once I scraped off the stodgy mess it was covered in.

DH taking the kids to his parents friday night, so had the house to myself, bed to myself, slept in until 10:00!!!!, drank too much coffee, took a long bath, painted my toes. All uninterrupted! They were home when I got back from work so I got to tuck them into bed Saturday night. The best of both worlds!
