Knowing it is almost time to put up the tree gives me unending joy. I am worse than a kid when it comes to waiting. It would have been up a couple weeks ago, but hubby insists on waiting.

Boyfriend (that I haven't seen in 91 days. Not that I'm counting or anything) is landing at Logan on Wednesday night.  ;D :D :) :-* [smiley=guitarist.gif] [smiley=2thumbsup.gif] [smiley=smitten.gif]
Yay!!  ;D
(Hope he has a better landing than DS had Monday night -- "something" was on the tarmac so the pilot had to do a quick pullout! But all was well, thank goodness)

Knowing that even though it is going up 'late' by your standards, the tree will be up in a couple days. Monday is the day!  [smiley=antlers.gif] [smiley=elf.gif]

Happiness is......not having to worry that your children have a warm place to sleep, that they have all their basic needs met......something that is not happening for me right now........

Me too! I ADORE Thanksgiving, but I think half of it is because for me, it's like a precursor into the Christmas Season (and such a yummy way to kick off the Holidays!)
I'm excited that we made plans to turn our Christmas Decorating evening into a fun "date night" sort of thing with Champagne, Nice dinner, desserts, etc. for JUST the 2 of us!  [smiley=smitten.gif]

That sounds like a perfect date to me.  ;D Hubby isn't a tree person at all, so I put it up, listen to music, drink cocoa and have some gingerbread men.. with a Christmassy scented Yankee candle going. He goes into the other room and watches some sort of manly action film, but will pop out to visit from time to time.

Mine: Mom had put some money in our US bank account a couple weeks ago for Christmas. She called last night to say dad had put some in too. Sweet of both of them. (They have been divorced 20 years now, but remained friends for the kids and grandkids, and are actually far better friends now than they were married.) We just use the debit card here at places that don't require chip and pin, or withdraw it from the cash machine. They figure that way, they can add what they'd spend on shipping to the amount and we can get what we want.

Funny enough, this whole "date night" thing started with my ex-husband as an incentive to get him to help out! (He would have never done it otherwise!) So I had to make it really enticing for him. So I would make BBQ ribs and stuff to rope him in. When we got divorced, I still made it like a personal date night for myself with food, drink and music and that's what my current husband saw. It's really nice that I don't have to "trick" him into spending this time with me as he actually WANTS and enjoys doing it! (That or he just thinks it's fun to watch me get all excited over it! LOL!) He actually came to me and asked me if I was going to continue on making it a "celebrate decorating for Christmas day" because he really wanted to do one with me! (This is our first Christmas actually physically together!)...I'm weird, I like to make a celebration out of everything!  [smiley=balloon.gif]

It is great your tradition can continue even though you don't have to entice this one. My ex fiance enjoyed putting up the tree. We'd have cocoa and a few home baked cookies while putting up the tree. Once it was done, we would pop popcorn or have another snack and watch a Christmas movie. Hubby just isn't into the tree at all, and the rest of his family isn't either (other than his SIL so his brother 'suffers' too). I'm okay with it. I get my tree, he deals with it and we make it work for us.  ;D I'm also one of those 'make a celebration out of everything' people. Life is too dreary if you don't find the fun things.

Snuggling deeper under the covers when the wind and rain are battering the windows in the middle of the night.
