Listening to Moe (cockatiel) 'babble' as he plays. He knows quite a few words and phrases, in addition to several different whistle patterns he has learned from people working with him. As he plays, at times no one is talking to him, he will say a lot of them quietly.

Oh, that is so cute!  Is he your own bird?
We had a cockatiel when I was a kid... he was called Bert.  He knew lots of songs and would twirl a cocktail stick around in his beak whilst whistling Yankee Doodle.

That's made me happy just thinking of him and his wee rosy cheeks!  [smiley=heart.gif]

Moe is actually mom's, but we are currently living at her house so I am around him all the time. Everyone works with him, but I do it most, just because it entertains me. He loves to play peekaboo, and says quite a few phrases, including 'get your groove on' as he dances, 'see you in a bit', 'goodnight', 'night Moe', 'hey Moe', 'I love you', 'love you', 'morning', and a few others. It is funny when he gets things mixed up and says things at the wrong time, like the morning he was softly crooning 'night, Moe' over and over for half an hour. He also makes a sound that mimics kissing noises. Someone will make several kissing noises in a row and he will repeat it back, or do it first if he wants you to repeat it back.

He was born on Easter of this year, so he is relatively young yet. Lots of time to teach him more.

It sounds like Bert was a lot of fun! :)

My music teacher in the US had a cockatiel that imitated her laugh perfectly, but didn't say much.

Celebrating eight years of marriage with Japanese for lunch, watching "The Hobbit" and doing a bit of shopping. Headed out in a bit to let the fun begin.

Part 2: Dad stopped by this morning to give us money for a meal as an anniversary gift. It is more than enough for lunch AND the cinema tickets. :)
