Good news indeed!   

I was just offered the job at Lonely Planet!    I start later this week. 

Go, TF! Have fun with it - sounds like a very cool job. I am happy for my own bed and pillow - an up side from being back from hols.

I'm working in two different departments so I'm balancing my workload and trying to learn loads of stuff.    I'm doing Media & Comms stuff in the morning and HR stuff in the afternoon.    Pretty cool all around.    Loads of sweets from people's trips in the office (which I've so far avoided!) and coworkers who I have something in common with (travel!). 

We're in the BBC building, so there's a lot going on all around us, but Lonely Planet isn't part of BBC anymore, so we're in an awkward place- still using BBC resources, but not really a full part of BBC..... (we still use the BBC post system, servers and IT but Lonely Planet jobs aren't posted on the BBC website anymore so we need to figure out a new system for applications.....) it's pretty interesting being a part of the transition.    Hopefully one day I'll be able to tell people how it was 'back in the old days when we were still at the BBC office....'

Wow! Lots to learn and very exciting! I had no idea that BBC & LP were ever linked - so I learn something new. 

The sweets thing is always so deadly in offices - temptation all around.

Having a good giggle, while explaining via twitter, how to clean and prepare a pumpkin to be cooked. One of our very dear noncooking totally clueless in the kitchen friends in the UK has decided to tackle a pumpkin and make some sweet and savoury dishes out of it. To date, his biggest culinary success is graduating from the microwave to oven, but still making pre-made, frozen food.

He currently has all the guts and seeds, some of the flesh and a bit of the outer rind in a baking dish, unsure what his next step is. This could be an entertaining evening.

I'm fully entertained just reading this tidbit.. What happened? Did he finally decide to do something with all of it? lol

He never did say what he did with it. I will have to send him a message and ask. I've been wanting to ask, but afraid it was a colossal cooking disaster, prompting him to keep quiet. I am desperate to know though. 

Hot water and heat. Our hot water has been getting cooler and cooler. It's been getting on time for the furnace  in the past couple weeks, but we had been resisting. When we decided it was time to have heat... the furnace was out. It was repaired today, and both the heating elements of the water heater were replaced.

Yay! Me too! 

Mine: My new job is still making me happy. Not only do I get verbally rewarded for a job well done, I get little surprises from time to time, 'for my efforts' because I don;t mind going above and beyond. I realize the little treats happen because the boss is one of my oldest and dearest friends, but it is still nice to be appreciated. Carrot cake, and pumpkin spice K cups for the Keurig aren't so bad either!

Salsa tonight and "Thanksgiving" tomorrow.
