Talking a bunch of people into attending an event and then having the event turn out to be fabulous and fun. Whew!  :D

The streets are nearly clear! We ended up with 11 inches of snow Thursday night and Friday, after a layer of ice Thursday afternoon. This is the longest I have ever seen it take to get roads and streets cleared. This afternoon is the first progress I have seen in the efforts to clear them.

Fresh Baked Bread! Being gluten free is rough enough, but due to much craziness for the last several month and an emergency move, it's been months since I've been able to bake bread.  5 loaves in the oven.  Two for this week and more for the freezer!

Mailing the Christmas cards, finishing the Christmas shopping and wrapping today, with snow on the ground. The snow just made it feel so much more Christmassy as I finished the 'work' part of it.

Mine is along the same line. I've finished the Christmas cards and I'm finally getting things organized to send to Ireland. I plan to offload all of this tomorrow! I've also updated my address book which was way outdated.

I have decided to wait until after Christmas to do the actual updating of my address book. I will have to scour FB messages and emails to get all the updated addresses and  buy a new address book pack for my Day Runner planner, if they even sell the ones to fit the the size I have. It is going to be quite a chore, so I figure I will enjoy Christmas before getting started, or I might miss it altogether.  ;D

Snow outside, warmth inside, Christmas tree lights going (I am a fan of LOTS of twinkle lights, both multi-colour and white), fuzzy pjs on, and a beef roast in the crockpot to simmer overnight waiting for the veggies to be added in the morning. It already smells heavenly and is making me hungry at bedtime.

I just love the warm, homey feel of being indoors and cozy in the winter.

After months and months, the bookshop/cafe I'm working at finally opened yesterday to the great excitement of both the staff and the folks in the neighborhood. We were open from 9am-10pm and it was busy the ENTIRE day! During the afternoon there was barely any room for people to move around!

We've put so much hard work into it, and it was great to have people actually cheering and shouting "YOU'RE OPEN!!!" when they first walked in. Hopefully it's a good indication of how we'll do!  :)

Yay! It is wonderful to hear the community not only supports the shop, but is genuinely happy to see it open! As much as I like the idea of Kindle, Nook, etc, nothing compares to the weight, feel and smell of a real book. Although I don't see it happening in my lifetime, it breaks my book loving heart to think the one day 'real' books will be completely replaced by e-readers.

Sounds encouraging!  Good idea to have books AND cafe, I think.

Although I'd much rather have my snow back, not having to battle ice and vacuum rock salt every five minutes the last couple days has been nice. Tomorrow is supposed to be around 50, today was too. It is supposed to get cold again, so I am keeping my fingers crossed for a white Christmas... even if it means keeping the vacuum in the living room again.  [smiley=antlers.gif]

Edited to fix a typo.
