Abu Dhabi

has anyone ever been to abu dhabi?  i was watching a programme last night and they were in abu dhabi.  that place looks magnificent.  i haven't heard much about traveling to the United Arab Emiriates.....other than Dubai, which looks and sounds magnificent as well. 

has anyone traveled to UAE?  would you recommend it?  anything bad/good?  any recommendations?

Never been to Abu Dhabi - but I can second what kaleidoscope says about Dubai - it's SO FAB! My sister has lived there for 11 years & has NO INTENTIONS of ever moving back to the UK or USA b/c she loves it there so much.  The beaches, the shopping, the GOLD souks! the desert driving on the dunes, the list continues...great for kids as well if you go to Wild Wadi.  We've seen some UK celebs there as well.  The customer service there is UNBELIEVABLE- makes you feel like you've died & gone to heaven...even if you don't stay at the Jumeriah Beach Hotel, you can go inside & go up the glass lift to get a great view of the Burj al Arab (that one costs about £30 just to visit it I think

Great place to go - but stay away in the summer!!
