Is Passport & Visa required for military?
« on: June 26, 2006, 09:45:20 PM »
I heard my family will require a Visa in addition to a passport for us to stay in england while I am stationed there for 3 years. Is that true? What is the difference between Visas and passports?

A passport is a travel document issued by the government of the country of which you are a citizen.  A visa is a permission slip issued by the country to which you are travelling saying that you are allowed to travel or live there.

Your family will need visas to come over to the UK with you.  You should contact the British consulate for info, though I imagine you have some sort of personnel department attached to your unit who could help.
