anyone fixing anything for the 4th of July?

We aren't having anyone over or anything, but I'm going to attempt for - the first time ever - fried chicken! Will probably do potato salad and coleslaw (Chesapeake Bay recipe), too.

I do miss a good ol' 4th of July BBQ!
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

I actually just met another american woman who I found out lives just down the street from me so we are going to do a BBQ at her house.  She's doing the hamburgers and hotdogs and I am doing the sides- potato salad and a festive cheesecake with strawberries and blueberries to decorate as the american flag.

We're having a BBQ belatedly next Sunday at my in-laws.  I bought salad dressing at Aldi in preparation (none of this un-American salad cream nonsense for me thanks!)

We are buying some nice steak to put on the grill... maybe some corn on the cob if we can find it!
