Sometimes it's best not to write about subjects which we know not.  What an example of why Americans don't understand the beauty of footie!
Love your life, poor as it is. You may perhaps have some pleasant, thrilling, glorious hours, even in a poorhouse. The setting sun is reflected from the windows of the almshouse as brightly as from the rich man’s abode; the snow melts before its doors as early in the spring. Cultivate property like a garden herb, like sage. Do not trouble yourself much to get new things, whether clothes or friends. Turn the old; return to them. Things do not change; we change. Sell your clothes and keep your thoughts…

Yes, how about an article about how boring baseball is..  It takes far more skill to play footie then they think.  And there is a reason it is the #1 participation sport IN AMERICA!!!!!

What total arses- and I don't even enjoy footie like you all do!
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

Apparently we are just bored easily and scoring goals is the only action that makes games worth watching.  Which explains why they changed the rules in hockey for this past season so that the games will be "faster" and "higher scoring" to improve viewing.   ::)  Hockey was fine the way it was, but if they need to change it compete in an American market then football will never make it as a spectator sport over here.

And I agree, baseball is incredibly boring, played by a bunch of guys on drugs, and there's not a whole lot of action.  And in American Football the game stops every 10 seconds!

(For the record, I only have the patience to watch games with nearly continuous action - ice hockey, football, rugby)

as usual, one moron writes an article and everyone lumps "America" into one group.  There are almost 300 million people in America so lets try not to lump us all into one category.

baseball is beautiful game.  It's a game of strategy and you have to understand it to enjoy it.  But just like soccer, not everyone is going to understand it and like it.

It took me a while to love the footie, as well as to at least appreciate baseball.  Personally, I always thought baseball was a LOT more fun in person - making a whole day's event out of it.

After watching the slow-mo montages last night, I'd say "the more you look, the more beautiful footwork there is to see"  :)

Whole blocks of game time transpire during which absolutely nothing happens.

Has this guy ever watched a baseball game??  Maybe he's trying to be facetious?

there is always stuff going on at a baseball game as well.  just as you would watch a centerback move without the ball or a striker make runs in anticipation.  If you watch a baseball game, watch position players make adjustments to hitters, its the same thing

i find cricket boring, but only because I don't understand the rules.  I can see where it would be exciting because there is constant action between what I would call the "pitcher and batter," but since I don't understand the rules I have trouble watching it.  and any book i tried to get on it makes the explanation even harder to follow. :o
