Apparently we are just bored easily and scoring goals is the only action that makes games worth watching. Which explains why they changed the rules in hockey for this past season so that the games will be "faster" and "higher scoring" to improve viewing.
Hockey was fine the way it was, but if they need to change it compete in an American market then football will never make it as a spectator sport over here.
And I agree, baseball is incredibly boring, played by a bunch of guys on drugs, and there's not a whole lot of action. And in American Football the game stops every 10 seconds!
(For the record, I only have the patience to watch games with nearly continuous action - ice hockey, football, rugby)
