Should I be worried?
« on: July 06, 2006, 04:12:08 PM »
I mailed all my visa information and application off to the NYC consulate on July 1st and it arrived (confirmed and signed via Fed Ex) on July 3rd.  I have not as of yet received any notification however from the consulate that my information arrived.  I thought I was going to receive e-mails along the way.  I am a bit concerned that if that was the case, I have yet to receive any notification at all.

The consulate seems to be unwilling to communicate via e-mail regarding visas (although this is more a package reception issue) and I hesitate to call the toll number when I doubt they will be of any assistance if my package has not yet made it to the correct office.

Thoughts?  Should I be worried?  Will there be any communication?  Should I just wait?  Should I call the toll line?  Should I just chalk this up to a holiday week?

Thanks in advance

From reading other posters' experiences with the New York consulate, it seems that they're quite slow to email.  Oftentimes, they'll send an email confirming that they've received an application days after they've actually received it, and usually right before they process the application.  I'm sure that if they have a problem, you'll be hearing from them.

Chill out! My Hubby's visa took five working days - from them receiving it, approving it, (the one and only email from them was gotten four working days after receipt) and the passport with visa in being returned to us.

Maybe you'll hear something tomorrow, maybe Monday will be the day - now is not the time to start panicking. :)

Yes, time for a deep breath.  Typically the consulates follow the US Public Holidays, so that means they were closed on Tuesday...  I got the e-mails usually 24 hours after the event actually happened.  If we were talking that it had gone missing for 10 days then you start worrying...  A bank holiday week is going to add a day or two...

Just be thankful you are not dealing with US immigration.
