online application question
« on: July 06, 2006, 05:20:50 PM »
we're filling in the online form for our fiance visa, i have one question though.
I'm starting my fulltime permanent job, as required to show I can support him, on the 12th july. I've included letters explaining this in my supporting document and made it clear that my finace isn't planning to come over until a month after I start.
But on the form it asks if I'm currently employed and since when. Should we put that I'm not employed? The form doesn't give any room to explain why, and my savings alone don't look like I could support him.
It will let us put that I do work, and put the future date in, but I'm worried someone will look at that think 'hmmm that date isn't until next week, they lied when they said she is already working?'
We're really worried about getting some tiny detail wrong and being turned down- any reassurance is welcome. thanks.

how about you just wait until 12th july to apply for the visa? surely waiting another 6 days can't hurt...
Now a triple citizen!

Student visa 9/06-->Int'l Grad Scheme 1/08-->FLR(M) 7/08-->ILR 6/10-->British citizenship 12/12

No I know it couldn't hurt but I'm sure you know how excited and anxious we both are and want to get it done right away. If we must wait then we will, but I was hoping that someone who had either been there or has some professional knowledge could tell us if filling it in either of these ways would put a black mark against us.

Not sure about this particular instance, but when we applied in April we were low on savings and my sponsor had just started a job.  The ECO complained that she was in a probationay period and could be terminated at any time (which was true).  Just make sure to cover that aspect of the application.

Good luck.

We've got letters and statements from my parents saying theyd support us financially should anything like that happen, so I'm not too worried about that part. Just mostly I'm concerned whether they could catch us out on this technicality, or whether they will read our supporting documents and accept what we're saying
thanks for that point though, I hadnt thought about it

By the time we settle it here, the six days will have passed...  Just take a deep breath and wait the six days...  ;)  You will survive it, trust me!
