Just watching the Argentine v Ivory Cost game.  Darn shame about the current score.  :(

Cant say I enjoyed Englands first game yesterday. They didnt play well at all and i was actually getting bored. I realise it was probably because of the heat but if they dont shape up they'll never get through to the next round. Thurs match against Trinidad and Tobago ought to be interesting. Cant believe they drew against Sweden!!!!

Go Mexico!!!  I was pleased with that one - one of the best games out the first round so far.

Of the matches I've watched so far:

England v Paraguay: bit boring

Argentina v Ivory Coast: fast-paced, skilful, great game -- probably the best so far

Serbia & Montenegro v Holland: entertaining first half, second half Serbia began to stifle the Dutch attacks, game evened up and lost a bit of its first half excitement.

Mexico v Iran: thought this would be a rugby score.  First goal was cheeky, but nicely done. Well-fought game, but in the end Mexico was just too strong.

Angola v Portugal: good game, Figo may no longer be a Galactico but he's still a work horse.

LOL  the States just got schooled, they just couldn't handle the superior football being played by the Europeans. I think they suffer coz they have no outstanding talent (Nedved, Rosicky). They are a hard working side, but dont posess the personnel. After Italy's performance, it's gonna be the Europeans that progress from this group. A shame really coz the US really need a positive WC if they are to promote the game over there. What was Kasey Keller doin in goal, isn't Friedel first choice ?

The US got pounded.  Quite rightly so, I'd say, as they weren't exactly playing well.

How about those Australians though?!!

That's a shame he's been quite consistent in the Premiership. I want the US to do well, but can't see you getting anything from Italy and Ghana. One or two top players can make all the difference, Essien and Appiah had good games last night, and were unlucky their side did'nt capitalise on their opportunities. I still remember USA 94, with Alexei Lalas.  [smiley=laugh.gif]

My god, has the WC moved on from those dark days!  ;D

I think there's a chance with Ghana.  With Italy?  Hmph, who knows.  Depends on which Italian team shows up.  The one that plays silky, attacking football that makes you drool all over the telly or the one that's indifferent, diving and couldn't get out of their own way if their collective ars* were on fire.

Half of the fun watching Italy is figuring out just who will show up on the day!  ;)

Sorry guys, but watching Ghana last night I don't think you've a hope of going through to the next round.  They played bloody well against Italy, had 50 per cent posession in the first half, and unless you can hold them to 0-0 until the hour mark when they start to tire, and then knock in a sneaky one, I can't see you getting the points.

I hope you manage to beat the Italians though.

The England game was appalling.  So damn dull, but not helped by the ref refusing to allow players to take on water during the game, which is just bloody dangerous.  Best game so far has to be Ivory Coast v Argentina.

I agree but they seemed to have a lot of trouble passing and crossing. It was frustrating because they're clearly really good.... The US were dismal. That was a really disheartening performance.

Wow.  Very underwhelmed with Brazil tonight.  What has happened to Ronaldo?  He was hopeless.  An embarassment.  Croatia did very well and they remain my tip for second in the group.

The other half and I were joking that he should have just pulled up a deck chair in the centre circle.  Someone mentioned that he might be coming back from an injury, so perhaps that accounts for his performance (or lack thereof).
