I have seen some people on here saying that a copy of the absent parent's ID is needed for a child's passport application. This is NOT the case, necessarily.
As long as the form DS 3053 is filled out by the absent parent AND notarized by a legal notary public, the form is valid and no extra identification for the absent parent is needed. The notarization is proof that the person signing the form is the actual absent parent.
