do I need a visa .......???

Just to visit my husband in the states.

We are applying for the spousal visa for him to live here in the UK, but not for another year until he is out of the Mil.

I was talking to a friend the other day as i amgoing to see him August 1st, and she says i need a visa to visit him, is this true??

No, you'll just enter as a visitor. (unless you have a prior criminal conviction or have previously been deported, etc.)  You can stay for up to 90 days.

She's got to have a machine-readable passport as well.... if it's an old passport, i have a funny feeling she might need a visa.  (Remember a couple of years ago this was a big deal in the press... i just cant remember the outcome.)

Yeah, I'd forgotten about that...can't remember when it came into effect, though!

wwell i did have a minor conviction from when i was 16, basically a fine, so i have the visa for that, so i dont need a machine readable passport with that, as i have travelled with this when i went to get married.
