Animal Pet Nicknames
« on: July 18, 2006, 03:35:21 PM »
I was talking to my sister the other night and we were discussing how our pets' names have evolved into nicknames that sound nothing like their original names.  Has anyone else done this, or are we just crazy animal people? Here's my example:
One of our cat's names is Smootie. Because of her hot and cold personality (sometimes wants to petted, other times not at all) we started calling her Smegel (like from Lord of the Rings). This evolved into Smegie, then became Smee-mee, and now we call her Mee-Mee all of the time!

Jess

Well I call her Jessiro.........Or Baby dog....not that she is a baby just that she is my baby.

David calls her Jess Pig.....cause she is a bit of a pig or he just calls her Pig..........then that leads into "That'll do Pig"

Ginger is a Poodle so she is "Poodle" or "Ging"
Kerry, the Westie, is "Doodle" (because it rhymes with Poodle) or "Doodle-bug" or "Kerry-Doodle"

They both answer to "Girls" which is handy and saves calling them both by name when you want them both.

And now that we have a little one, they also come when she says "PUP-py" in her little sing-song voice. She also pats the side of her leg to call them, looking very solemn when she does it. It's a riot to see her imitate things we never knew we did.
Stop waiting. Start doing.

My cat's name is Marshall, so we call him Marshie mostly...however, his other nickname is "Poopster!"  :o  This was given to Marshall when he was a kitten and would eat and poop all the time!  It became kind of a running joke, and so the nickname came out of that...weird, I know  :P

we have a siamesse who was named before I got him he was named Skully. but I usually call him punkin, puddin, or boog. we have another cat she is a calico white & grey stripped. her real name is Jazmin but she is usually called stink, stinkerbell, here is best 1 though "fart blossom". if she doesnt want to be held she is will bomb you big time. before I moved over here I had my sister's cat along with my own cats. my sisters cat had his own nickname as well his real name was Max. but he was a big boy so I called him hoss, made my sister mad but I didnt care. cause I was only to have him temporarly but I ended up having him for almost 4 years. my cats are only called there real names when they are in trouble. so they know they have done something wrong & they usually hide from us for a couple hours.

Samson.
Sambolaya.
Samsonite.
Bubba.
Poppet.
Love your life, poor as it is. You may perhaps have some pleasant, thrilling, glorious hours, even in a poorhouse. The setting sun is reflected from the windows of the almshouse as brightly as from the rich man’s abode; the snow melts before its doors as early in the spring. Cultivate property like a garden herb, like sage. Do not trouble yourself much to get new things, whether clothes or friends. Turn the old; return to them. Things do not change; we change. Sell your clothes and keep your thoughts…

My cats name is Satan and I hardly ever call him that unless I'm talking about him. I usually call him Bubby or big boy.

I have two cats, Obie and Little Kitty. Obie is often Obiehead or Punky. So if Obie is Punky, then Little Kitty is Little Punky!

Our Dave gets called all sorts, depending on what he's doing...

Deer Boy, if he is looking like a deer  ::)
Corpse, if he is lying stretched out on the floor
Mantis, if he is thrashing about on the floor rubbing his back on the carpet
Contortion Boy, if he is lying in a weird, uncomfortable-looking position

Other than that it's Daver, Davelicious, Big D, nugget, or knucklehead.

Also, any song that's got the word 'baby' in it... the lyrics get changed to 'Davie'...

Take Good Care of my Davie
Ooh, Davie I love your way
Sugar Davie Love
Be My Davie
Bye Bye Davie
I'll Be Your Davie Tonight... you get the picture.
