Our Dave gets called all sorts, depending on what he's doing...

Deer Boy, if he is looking like a deer  ::)
Corpse, if he is lying stretched out on the floor
Mantis, if he is thrashing about on the floor rubbing his back on the carpet
Contortion Boy, if he is lying in a weird, uncomfortable-looking position

Other than that it's Daver, Davelicious, Big D, nugget, or knucklehead.

Also, any song that's got the word 'baby' in it... the lyrics get changed to 'Davie'...

Take Good Care of my Davie
Ooh, Davie I love your way
Sugar Davie Love
Be My Davie
Bye Bye Davie
I'll Be Your Davie Tonight... you get the picture.

I call Dillinger Big D too....forgot that one!

I forgot one... he is a really nosy dog... always wanting to see what you're doing, always poking his head into bushes, into doorways, etc... so we sometimes call him Nosy Parker, or Mr Parker.

We are completely daft about this dog!  ;)

If he was a girl, I'd suggest calling him Pauline or Dot!  lol
Love your life, poor as it is. You may perhaps have some pleasant, thrilling, glorious hours, even in a poorhouse. The setting sun is reflected from the windows of the almshouse as brightly as from the rich man’s abode; the snow melts before its doors as early in the spring. Cultivate property like a garden herb, like sage. Do not trouble yourself much to get new things, whether clothes or friends. Turn the old; return to them. Things do not change; we change. Sell your clothes and keep your thoughts…

We used to have a cat called Bubs.
Bubs
Boody
Boodyssoise
Swanny
SwanBoy... Do you see the logic? Right.
In the end, we usually just called him SwanBoy, never Bubs.

Poor Percy, our current cat, hardly gets any of that.

Our girl is Caiomhe (pronounced like "Kiva")

For some reason, I often call her Caiomhe ChickenButt.

I also call her tinkerbell, which morphed to stinkerbell, which morphed to stinkerbella.

Aww I miss her!  I need a ticker!!

That is so cute. We do that with Maggie, it doesn't even have to have a particular word in it that is even close and we change it and sing to her. She looks at us like we are so daft and so insulting. It cracks me up.

We also call her Mag Pie, Mags, Princess, Sugar Plum Fairy, Blondie, Poodle, Noodle, Shorty, Fatty (only since she has been on some steroids, lol), Humdinger, smelly butt, Curly Sue.....I am surprised she even knows her name...I could go on and on....sorry
RIP my dear sweet Bailey...sorry you had to die so young....

Boris
  • Pooky (no idea where it came from, but we've used it for years)
  • Snoris (he wheezes in his sleep)
  • Whiny-Butt Boris (because he really, really is)
  • Scrawny-Butt Boris (he's not as "robust" as he once was)

Misha
  • Squish (he was so little when we adopted him I used to say you could squish his head like a bug)
  • Lewis (my brother said he should have been named Lewis, and it kind of stuck)
  • Misha Monster
  • Bitey (this was going to be his name, until we realized no vet on Earth would touch him if we did)
Lilly
  • Lilly Bug
  • Miss Lilly
  • Monkey (she used to like to hang upside-down from her cat tree when she was a kitten)
  • Tubby (she's a big girl)
  • Fluffy Butt

Also, any song that's got the word 'baby' in it... the lyrics get changed to 'Davie'...

My mom had a cat who was completely insane - I used to call him Psycho Kitty, which always got me singing a variation on the Talking Heads song Psycho Killer:  Psycho Kitty... quest que cest... fa fa fa fa fa fa fa fa fa fa.....  ;D

Moo has a silly enough name without calling her anything else. :P Actually her full name when she was given to us was Moo Moo and we do call her that sometimes but mostly just Moo.

Blue gets called all sorts of things...some I can't list on this forum. ;) But mostly it's BooBoo or Boobie or Cat Baloo or Fat Mandu. And I'm another one that makes up words to songs to sing to him. One of my favorite is to the tune of Blue Moon.....

Blue move...you're always standing in my way....

That would be because he's always getting under my feet when I'm walking and being that he's 21 lbs it's like having a walking ottoman under your feet. :P

The cat, whose real name is Spaz (given by previous owner):
Spazzy
Spaz Cat
Miss Big Butt

Our male guinea pigs, Tidbit and Morsel:
Tidbutt and Morbutt

Our female guinea pigs, Nikki and Miss Piggy:
Nic-Nick
Missy Piggy

We've not yet named the foster rabbit we got on Sunday.  My daughter has been calling her Queenie, and I've been calling her Dustmop, Baby, or Bunny Butt.  She's a large, overweight, long-haired girl.

Good one!  :)

It's maybe a Glasgow thing, or just-our-family thing, but when Davie is standing in front of the TV blocking the view, my MIL and DH will both say to him 'is your father a glazier?'

When we first got Davie from Battersea Dog's Home, he was called Pepperami.
As we were walking from the Dogs Home to the train station, i was calling him Pepper, and Pep, and it just didnt sound right.  In the time it took to travel from Battersea to Plaistow, his name changed to David Cooper Travis OurSurname.  ;)

The foster bunny was named Roomba, as she looks like a self-propelled dustmop.  I sometimes call her Roomba-Roo.
