Is Friday a Business day to the NY Consulate?
« on: July 21, 2006, 02:12:21 PM »
I remember reading not too long ago that (I think) the NY consulate don't do appointments for visas on Fridays. My question is, if they received my supporting documents yesterday, would today (Friday) count as a processing day or would it automatically start on Monday?

From the USPS site I've tracked the package and it arrived there and was signed for at 11:30am yesterday, but I still haven't received an email from them stating they received it (I know they might not send one). I'm just the most impatient person in the world I think  :P

We have an appointment booked for a Friday.

Whether that means they would send you an e-mail or not is a whole new ball game!

As far as I know it should be a normal processing day.  Let me look at a calendar for last year and check what days of the week mine was.

ETA: looks like I FedExed it on a Friday, which means they really got it on Monday and they approved it on Wednesday.  So hopefully you might hear Monday or Tuesday.

NYC accepts documents on Fridays but does not do interviews on Friday.  Also during this summer they close at 14:30 for "summer hours" on Fridays.

Don't understand why you couldn't have an interview on a Friday.  If you look on the e-appointments thingy for NY, Fridays are treated as normal working days when you can schedule an appointment.

An interview is different than an application appointment.  Interviews occur when they have additional questions about your application that can't be handled in the application process.  These can be handled either on the phone or in person.  Most people (I think about 90% in the US) do not ever get an interview.  And in that vein, they don't do these on Friday.

ok...cheers kitsonk....I get totally confused by the different lingo that people use...and whether what I say is right or wrong!  Interviews/appointments.

But I appreciate you putting me straight...lol.  Sorry to be a pain and keep need correcting.

Just fairly new to this whole thing.
