Scottish CityLink pass question

Hi all... I'll be back in Scotland from 6 October to 8 November...after leaving Edinburgh on the 20th October I'm heading off to Inverness then Orkney and possibly Aberdeen before returning to Glasgow on 8 November

My question... ScottishCityLink offers passes which allow for (quote): 8 days travel out of 16
however under conditions it says it can be used on any day within the period shown on the ticket

so, is the ticket valid on all 16 days, or only on 8 selected days during that time span?

I believe it means that you are able to travel any day in the 16 day period, but you can not travel on more than 8 of those days.
