Las Iguanas
« on: July 25, 2006, 01:23:41 PM »
I just discovered that there is one in Birmingham, just wanted to know if their food is good? I know they're a chain, anyone else eaten there?

I've eaten at the Leeds one many times. Fantastic food and the atmosphere is fun. I keep going there for special occasions like my anniversary last year and my birthday earlier this month.

TOTALLY recommend them.

Well, that makes up my mind then! Thanks Ashley! Now just have to convince hubs to take me.

Their is one in Bristol and I have to say it was not that great.

The atmosphere was nice - but they had things on their menu that were NOT Mexican.....all in all, I wouldn't go back - but it was a few years ago.....

What Ashley said...same-same here (in Leeds too).  We had a UKY meetup there once & I've gone on work dos and with hubby before.  They have a lovely Happy Hour there too - 2-FOR-1 booze!!!

Btw...Las Iguanas is not a Mexican restaurant.  They bill themselves as Latin American & their menu runs with a theme of dishes that include Brazilian, Argentinian, Mex or Tex-Mex (whatevah! :P), etc...  (How 'authentic' any of these things are...well, who knows?  But tasty all the same.)  Some menu items are not unlike what you might get in an American Mexican chain type of restaurant (sitdown, not Taco Bell) - for instance, nachos, chimichanga, etc.  But it's a pick & choose sort of thing 'cause it's not all Mexican, 'cause it's not a Mexican restaurant... ;) :) :P

I've been to the Cardiff one and thought it was quite nice. Not Mexican but def yummy. I had the Spinach and Cream Cheese Enchilada and it was delicious! :)

Yes, that is pretty bizarre.  LOL :)  Duck in Orange sauce...hmmm, that sounds some kind of Asian food (or French?)...well there are pockets of large Asian populations in parts of Latin America... :P

OMG !!! That menu is Waaaaaaaay too fancy schmancy for me. Give me Roberto's any day, even La Salsa, better yet, RUBIOS (awwww  ::)).

Do you know how many burittos/tacos I could get back home for the price of ONE buritto here (hahaha).

Overpriced and too fancy, I can make that stuff at home. I have a great recipe for Enchilada sauce and it's mmmmmmmmm spicy and cheap too hehehe  ;D  ...

And how come the taquitos are baked/pan fried. That's new to me, I've always had them deep fried. Not good for your butt but good to the lips  ;)
