ziploc gallon bags?
« on: January 22, 2004, 11:50:38 PM »
Anyone know if these are sold in the UK?  I've tried 2 supermarkets in my area and Costco but I haven't been able to find any.

Thanks.

My own experience, but may be limited:

I haven't even seen anything close. The UK ones tend to be just sandwich bags with the yellow-and-blue-makes-green philosophy, only it's more like sticky stuff rather than "zipper".

One day, though...stuff seems to be coming across all the time, and Ziplock bags would be a hit here, I'm sure.

I get "ziploc" bags in three sizes at Sainsbury's.  They come in small, medium and large - and the large is LARGE!  You can fit about 1-1/2 loaves of bread in it!!

I've had no problems with them at all - love them.  They're freezer-safe and very durable.  They're in the same aisle as the rubbish bags and foil wrap.

Waitrose has 'em too!  (If you're in London, Ocado is Waitrose's online shop - http://www.ocado.co.uk)  Just do an online search and you'll see them in all sizes.  In fact, I got the Large ones and they were too big!  THe Medium ones are probably about gallon size.  And they are the little snap kind of closures...not that nasty sticky stuff that is useless!

Maybe I should have been more specific.  I'm looking for the kind with the actual zip at the top (little thingy at the top that you zip it closed with) not the kind that you have to press together.  I checked out the waitrose site, but you can't tell from the picture what it's like.  My Sainsbury's just seems to have the press type.

I haven't found any near me, sadly. :(

Tesco's has the ones you can snap together in 3 sizes, including large. They've worked for me.
