Bringing Jewelry Through Customs
« on: July 31, 2006, 02:37:23 AM »
Hi all

I'm transfering all my jewelry to seperate boxes so I can pack my jewelry box up. I'm just wondering if I'll have any trouble carrying all my jewelry with me through customs. I don't have very much, but a few pieces are worth a bit of money (probably combined about $3K or so). Just wondering if anyone had any thoughts/experiences to share about this.

You won't stop to declare it so there's no problem.  Besides, if you ARE stopped, it's personal property and you're not planning to sell it.  If it's not merchandise, there's not an issue.
Love your life, poor as it is. You may perhaps have some pleasant, thrilling, glorious hours, even in a poorhouse. The setting sun is reflected from the windows of the almshouse as brightly as from the rich man’s abode; the snow melts before its doors as early in the spring. Cultivate property like a garden herb, like sage. Do not trouble yourself much to get new things, whether clothes or friends. Turn the old; return to them. Things do not change; we change. Sell your clothes and keep your thoughts…

I carried my important jewelry with me as well, it's personal property, just as if you were bringing it to wear on a trip.
