Sorry, heavy/whipping cream?
« on: July 31, 2006, 12:31:40 PM »
I've spent 15 minutes whipping single cream with a mixer, to no conclusion.  But the double cream I purchased is thick as a brick!  What do I use?  Both the single and the double cream have a big red X next to 'whipping' but what else can I buy?

Thanks!

You need to look for whipping cream.

Whipping cream...  ;D

It's labled as such...

I don't believe for a minute that single cream or even double can really whip that well..  you might get a froth with a super mixer...

Here's what the Sainsbury's brand looks like, I know Tesco, Sommerfield and Coop also carry their own brands.

Good luck!

I am making some tonight to go with my freshly picked blackberries!

Thanks, VNP, especially for the picture!

I thought I had this down, obviously I didn't.  I am really tired (three little ones keeping me too busy and stupid Love Island keeping me up late!) so I forgot.  Got a parking penalty at Sainsbury's trying to buy the correct cream and then opened some cake slices to eat and left those on top of the car and drove away.  Zzzzzz...

But I will get this cream today, dammit! :)  I made a white cake (thanks to Skyco) and then poked holes in it, poured strawberry Jell-O over the cake, now I need my whipped cream icing.
