Hello, a few of the long-standing members here may remember me, but I've not posted in a while; I don't want to get bogged down in 'why', but let's say my decision not to be active was regretted and tough, but was the right one. I hope old friends are well; I know that many are because I've still got a contact or two.
For the last year, I've been campaigning to save the local train service here in Melksham, Wiltshire, England; it's under threat of drastic reduction in December to what's described as a "parliamentary" service - that's a minimum service level that's no real use to anyone, but it saves the operator the trouble of having to go through an expensive closure procedure. It's been quite an eye opener and the campaign has huge support - I've met three Members of Parliament all of whom have been supportive, I've been in contact with half a dozen other MPs all of whom have written back personally or stood up in Westminster to support the cause. Indeed
everyone seems to support the cause apart from the Department for Transport who specified the cut.
The cause is dear to me heart; I could (and do) go on and on about it. But can I just ask one little favour here? Could you please click through to
our Save The Train website; we're looking to boost our "unique" visitor count to 10,000 by the first anniversary of the site and we're close (oh so close!) but then so is 14th August when we hit the year old.
Many thanks.
