Fridge/Freezer Door Opening
« on: August 09, 2006, 12:07:54 PM »
i would really like a fridge/freezer that has its hinges on the left side of the unit.  the thing will be shoved in a corner and right handed hinges will make life more difficult.  i've looked through john lewis & argos' websites and they only show right handed hinged fridges. what gives?

Can you switch the hinges like you can do on fridges in the US?  I've never done it myself but my sister has.

Some models do indeed have reversible doors.  It's usually just a matter of removing pins or bolts on the hinges and swapping the fittings around.

If you have a closer look at the websites you'll find that some models are so listed, for example:

We bought a Hotpoint fridge last year and got them to switch the door around before it was delivered - no problems.

John Lewis will certainly do this for you.
