weirdest recipe ever....
« on: August 09, 2006, 01:53:03 PM »
I decided to do soup for lunch....I had cauliflower and potatos...both of which were going go go bad if I didn't use them right away. I've never made cauliflower and potato soup, (just potato) so after looking round the net..I decided to just experiment. I've got onion, yellow pepper, garlic, curry powder, a bit of dried parsley, a bit of chili powder, (I like spicy) some ground cumin.....it's all boiling away right now....in some stock. When everything is soft and kinda mushy, I'm going to let the water boil away, mush it, add butter and milk...salt and pepper, and blend it all up. Is this really weird?? Do you guys do weird things with recipes, and does it work??

I always cook pasta sauces when I am drunk, and they always turn out fine.  Last week I had some left over Thai Green Curry to which I added tomatoes and other spices and herbs and turned into a VERY spicy Italian/Indian fusion pasta sauce and it was really good!

Potato and cauliflower soup with curry and chili powders sounds lovely to me.

I make a split-pea curry soup here that I love.  It has dried split peas, ground coriander, cumin, garlic, red chili flakes, chili powder, salt and fresh minced onion.  I invented it when I was very very poor and realized that split peas were insanely cheap and quite filling.  Now we're not (so) poor anymore, but the hubby asks me to make it for him all the time, even in summer.  In winter it's fantastic with fresh-baked crusty bread.

I used to love strawberry pasta and walnut pasta. I know it sounds super gross, but it is very good I promise. :)

Let's take our wigs off in the shopi aisle and fight it out.
