Wow that's great...congrats! I've looked into it but it's all so iffy. I want to have kids and there's no long term studies on that sort of thing even though there are some people who have had kids but supposedly you are considered high risk. Also, here you have to go to therapy for like 6 months (and the therapist I called said they don't take care of gbp patients) and you have to lose 100lbs before. I thought well if I have to lose 100lbs before then what's the point of doing it?  ::)

Anyway, be safe...be courageous and be happy! it's awesome news and I hope everything goes great for you.

It is VERY risky to try to have children when you are obese.  Although I think diet and exercise is the best option for losing weight, in the end being healthy and fit is the most important thing.

Hi MeShell,

I am late to this thread and like others (I have only seen your pics, and I didn't think you needed it...you look lovely) but then I read your later post about your previous attempts to lose weight, your current issues and your family history so if you feel its the right thing for you....truly, all the best wishes!  ;)

I am sure you will keep us all posted on your progress!

Thanks Courtney :-*

Well over the weekend everything has started to fall into place.

I received the email from the dietician saying I had been given the go ahead. They wanted to know where my old scar from having my gall bladder removed was. So I took a photo and sent it, and received another emailing saying Thank you and that is fine.

I have my flights held going via Gatwick. I fly from the IOM on the 10th of December and stay overnight.
(Anyone want to get together that night?)

Then fly out at 0745 from Gatwick into Brussels on the 11th.
I should fly home via Manchester on the 19th. David is coming out on the 16th or 17th to help me home.

So it is all set and I can't wait!

*kisses* and thank you for all the good wishes...

It's not weird at all!

I can't wait to have a "normal" life....not to be tired all the time...I haven't been able to tuck my shirt in for 15 yrs....I can't wait to go shopping in Principles and River Island....for things other than shoes...

I know it is going to be a hard time post op but once I am healed it will be great!

MeShell, I am happy for you that you are so excited about this! Like I said before if it makes you a healthier, happier person, then I am all for it! Glad things are moving along nicely for you!  [smiley=hug.gif]

I am excited for you too!!!  You look so friendly and lovely in your photos.  My mom had the surgery in Feb 2004, she is now into a UK8 and so thrilled with her new body, I bet you will be too :)
