Renting to buying
« on: August 11, 2006, 03:18:37 PM »
I was looking at houses today on local estate agents' websites. I found the perfect flat for Jamie and me, it was beautiful! City centre location, big kitchen, room for a dining room, direct access to a rooftop garden. Now we get to the problem.. It's £190,000 and Jamie can only get £39,000. I'm not sure how much we can get together, but we're not going to bother finding out because we won't be able to afford a place that we like. We're not spending a lot on rent by London standards, but for Hull, it is a lot. We're spoiling ourselves with our flat, so it looks like we're going to be renting for a few years. Here's the flat I'm drooling over at the moment: http://212.50.188.105/cgi-win/vebra.cgi?details1?src=vebra&PropertyCode=1258001/KINGA/19438/1

Anyone else have this problem?

That is a GREAT flat!!!! I'd work my tooshie off to get that flat!  I'd move to a cheaper place, try to get a better job....what have you!  I'm a nut when it comes to this though....

This is what i'm up against now......*sigh*  I want...want bad.

But sadly i need to drop my price range about 50K down.....oh well.

Wow, both are great flats! Wish we had that kind of choice of lovely character flats where we live.

That's a beautiful house! I love the garden, perfect for a BBQ in the summer. I'm looking for better jobs right now and I'm going back to school next month, so I'm on my way!

Aimiloo, isn't that on the wrong side of the Atlantic? ;)  That $514k price tag may seem like a lot of money but move it to the southeast of England and it'd be well over £1 million!
One thing that goes in the favor of people with houses in the UK moving to America is the great exchange rate.  Jack in that £200k property and you're looking at near $400k and the house you'd get in most places in the US would be bigger with bigger garden!
And the world first spoke to me in Sensurround
