you also get stars etc. in your weigh in book.  BUT if you don't want it announced to the group, tell the people weiging you in!  they are all supa nice.

PS: go to ww.com and look for meetings, you'll see a schedule and where they are closest to you!

The stars in my book alone would make me keep up! hee hee
I have taken a vow to not eat in the evenings and I am just sitting here thinking 'this is killing me".

There is goat cheese and crackers calling my name in that kitchen.....right now....
No, I won't. sigh

I did WW and lost 35 pounds in 7 months.  I kept it off for a little bit, until I got engaged.  Now I'm 6 pounds away from being at my starting weight, which is really scary.  I gained all the weight back in just a year.  I'm freaking out a bit so I'm going back on WW, hopefully for good this time.

I need to get on a program.  I've gained about 10-15 (don't weight myself on a regular basis but I can tell) and it's all my doing cause I am eating the wrong things....too often. I think I'm making excuses cause I'm leaving in 8 weeks not to start cause I'll be leaving once I really get going etc.  Money is also an issue.  JC is out of the question.  I don't even spend 75 a week for 2 people lol.  WW seems to be the one I would choose (several friends have had success without having to eliminate entire categories of food) but again cost and the commitment of weekly meetings.

Kat, if you think you'd have the ability at all to do it pretty much on your own, you could always find WW points slider/book from eBay and do it that way. Some people can follow the program without the accountability of weekly meetings/weigh-ins.

I did it all online, I never went to a meeting.  I was station in Italy and it was wasn't an option.  I've heard that meetings here suck so I will be doing it online again, with the US site.  I hate the way the UK does WW.  I start TODAY!

That's really great to know.  I have been doing WW for 8 weeks and am ditching the meetings today, as my leader makes me feel guilty when I don't lose, and I really don't think it's helping.  My bf lost HUGE amounts of weight on WW in the UK, so I'm just going to follow his lead and do it all myself.

I don't know if meeting in general in the UK suck...I just think I don't respond well to middle aged women who remind me of my teachers.  As well as my boyfriend I have two other friends (both male) who have lost over a stone in the same amount of time I have lost 3lbs, so it must work for some.

I guess my problem with the UK WW is that I know the US points program like the back of my heand.  I don't need to calculate to figure out the points, etc.  Not to mention the UK uses stones and metric measurements which I am not comfortable with.  It's just a case of sticking with what I know and what worked for me.

That's a bit harsh! Just like the meetings in the US, it all depends on who the group leader is. I've had good and bad ones in the US, but I love the one I have here in the UK. She's young, funny and energetic and VERY supportive.

I have been going to Weight Watchers since mid October. I have lost 17 pounds that is great for me. I like to go the meeting here its another way to meet new people as well. my leader at Weight Watchers is older but she is very supportive though. she never makes me feel bad if I only lose a pound she says its better than putting a pound on. I have made 2 friends from the meeting's who I go swiming with every tuesday at 2pm. I myself like the fact you have 2 plans you can choose from, I like the No Count plan.  granted our grocery bill is more now that im on the WW diet. but I needed to do something to get the serious amount weight I have put on since moving here in July 04. ::)  :P

Psssst, I went to the first meeting, got the points slider thing and never went back.  I lost about 45 pounds and kept it off for 5 years until I moved here and again about 10 pounds grrrrrrrr.  I am working on that now though, I got a little lazy when I first came over.

For me, it was all about the exercise, but I think that depends on the individual.

I met a man over the holidays that is on WW when he started he weighed aprox 300lbs, and on New Years of last year he recieved two phone calls both of the phone calls were to tell him that both of his brothers had diabetes due to excess weight.  That New Years he made a resolution to lose weight before he would become the third in the family to develop diabetes.  So he put himself on a 3 year plan to lose 100lbs, with the help of his wife he ended up losing all 100lbs in the first year.    He was telling me about all his other failed attempts at losing weight and he said that his winning factor was that he had a goal, a lot of motivation, and plenty of support and that was really what made his story a success.  I myself am trying to cut out all the crap I eat and drink....IE too much bread, salt and BEER.  Because he was telling me that is basically what weight watchers was, they just cut out all the crap and taught him portion control.  So whichever you choose reeeka good luck.  If you want to be each others weight loss partner let me know (either myspace me or pm me here).

Thanks for all your all your support on my weight loss. I have to get back into the program now that the Christmas season is over. my reason for putting on weight when I moved over here is boredom & sheer laziness. I havent used my points slider I bought a points calculator Weight Watchers it was half price. my new toy as I call it lol, is perfect for my American food. I just put in the calories & then the saturated fat an it tells me how many points the item is marvelous little gadget.

I think WW is so much better for me cause I only put on 1 pound over Christmas period. I went to my meeting this past thursday I lost another 2 pounds. I only need 10 more pounds till I am at my 10% weight loss.  :) then I get a cool WW key chain in the shape of the number 10. I know I know I can do this without any problems.  [smiley=2thumbsup.gif]
