I have heard some people wash AND peel them because of pesticides etc but I never have, always just wash them.

My DH peels them - the first time I saw him doing it - I went over and was like *you don't have to do that!* and then took one and popped it into my mouth raw.

He nearly fell over!  He said you aren't supposed to eat them raw! I laughed and said - well better call the ambulance then!  ;D

I love them raw on salads!  He actually eats them raw now too....

If I had to peel them, I would never eat them.  Too much like hard work.

Cait, get your hubby one of those cute mushroom brushes (good cookery shops have them) and there will be no more complaining about time consuming mushroom sauces!!! :D

I have never peeled mushrooms...seems daft to me. I hope it isn't an English thing!

If I am having them in a salad I'll give them a rinse, if I am cooking them I pretty much just brush the mud off.
