Crock pots
« on: September 01, 2006, 10:54:52 AM »
I'm finally getting around to replacing my crock pot that I left behind in N.A.  What kind does everyone have?

And does anyone have a good crock pot cookbook?

As far as recipes - I always look online - free!  ;D

My favorite thing to do in one is a whole chicken - lovely!

I just got a new one and it came with a small cook book.  I never knew you could do deserts like cakes and things in them.  Can't wait to try some out.  There's one recipe for an upside down cake that looks fab, yum!  I love that i can throw in some potatoes, carrots, onions and a roast and have tea all ready when i get home from work.  Yay, no cooking!

The one i got is a rather large circular one, i thought of getting an oval shaped one as my mom has one like that, but decided i didn't have the cabinet space to store it. The only thing i don't like about it is the lid is glass and doesn't have the greatest seal around it so when you are cooking something with a lot of liquid in it, the lid seems to shake and rattle a bit from the steam.

Funny, we all seem to have the same slow cooker!  I think I got mine at Makro & if you know anyone who has a card, you can get it for £19.99 + VAT, so a bit cheaper.  It does come with a small cookbook, but I also have Mabel Hoffmans "Crockery Cookery." I make LOADS with it - so easy esp if you work - just pop the stuff in in the am & it's done when you get home!
