My friends in Portland throw a pirate party to celebrate the day every year. Sad I'm going to miss it this year.

Google it. There are thousands upon thousands of pages. Even wikipedia has a listing (what don't they have???).

Mostly, my friends just think its really funny and just another excuse to throw a party.

When we went to see pirates of the caribbean, I took my 6 year old nephew and told his mom that it was rated R.  She was most upset, then realised, indeed it was rated yaRRRRRRR!!

My English friends and I had a laugh at this one because here in the southwest, at least rural Bath area people already talk like this, it's known as "the somerset accent". Anyone heard of the Wurzels (sadly, I've seen them twice this summer!)?
