GOOD burgers
« on: September 12, 2006, 10:30:21 PM »
I am a burgeraholic.  I love burgers.  I find burgers in this country are total crap, the absolute worst I have ever had, no matter where I get them.  However, I found a restaurant by chance that has awesome burgers.  They are real, good meat, not the boiled, peeled off the bone and put back together stuff you get everywhere else.  I think it's a Kiwi chain but the one I went to is in Bellsize Park, right next to the tube station, on the right as you come out.  It's called Gourmet Burger Kitchen and their website is www.gbkinfo.co.uk  If you like good, proper burgers and live in London, this is the place to go!  Just thought I'd share :D

The only place I have ever had a burger in the UK is Gourmet Burger Kitchen. I love it! Their burgers are sooo tasty.

June, find a Walkabout!!! Those Aussie know how to make a good burger!! The Scots do too! I've had two of the best burgers in the UK there... Wannaburger in Edinburgh and another at a local pub in Aviemore. Dripping with burger goodness and fresh buns and toppings.

Thanks June.  I am a burgeraholic as well.  I actually have a whole blog devoted to burger love on my Myspace lol.

I don't know if they have turkey, but they certainly have chicken.  I'm not sure if it's chicken burger or just a chicken breast instead of a buger.  I like the burger with the avocado.  It's yummy.  Just make sure you tell them no relish, it kinda ruins the experience.

0o0o i love anything with avacado!...it's precious gold! haha

Ah no I found plenty of chicken breast type sandwiches but no ground turkey type burgers. I was a little dissapointed but I'm sure if I searched hard enough I could find ONE somewhere..

thanks  ;D

Howdy fellow burgeraholic!  ;D

June, there are lots of places in London that do from good to out of this world burgers!  :P

Here are some of my faves, as well as a few places I've heard good things about:

All Star Lanes - In Bloomsbury. Burgers and Boutique Bowling!
Automat - An American Brasserie/Diner in Mayfair.
Babes & Burgers - In Notting Hill.
Burger Shack - Three branches- I haven't eaten here but have heard that their burgers are good.
Ed's Easy Diner - Five Branches. I go there for their peanut butter milkshakes!
Fine Burger Co. - Five Branches. I'd like to try their Tampura battered onion rings!
Giraffe - twelve branches and growing. Very good burgers and a great place to take kids!
Haché - In Camden. Fantastic burgers, winners of Time Out's best London burger award! Their website seems to be down right now.
Hamburger Union - Four branches. Can be a bit hit and miss.
Lucky 7 -In Notting Hill. Cute American style diner
Real Burger World - Two branches. The cheapest "gourmet" burger chain.
The Ultimate Burger - Four Branches. Good burgers but certainly not the "ultimate" burgers! They do ground, chicken-breast burgers.

Check'em out and let us know what you think.

Enjoy!  ;)

Jod

I'd argue it's hard to get good burgers most places.  Not sure why the UK is so diffferent.

Used to love a place in Atlanta called the Vortex.  http://www.thevortexbarandgrill.com/TheVortex/index.htm

Won't help anyone in the UK, but boy is it good! :-)

Thanks for the links Jodrell.

Why do burgers generally taste so bad here?   Does anyone know of good places up in West Yorkshire?

I am not sure how you mess up a fresh burger... sucky meat, poor produce  ??? but it happens... worse yet are the frozen burgers, ew. I've learned to ask after my last gnarly one!!
