He's here!!!
« on: October 10, 2006, 10:10:38 PM »
My sweetheart arrived in the US on Saturday night after a small snafu with airline scheduling.  I can't tell you how much better life looks now that he is here by my side.  It makes the hard stuff much more bearable!  Now I'm running around like a madwoman trying to finalize details for the wedding.

Just for those who were wondering, he had no problem entering as a visitor.  Of course, he didn't tell the customs guy that he was coming to marry.  He said he was visiting the area and planning on touring the western states.  I've already checked everything with our county registrar and there should be no problem with getting the marriage license.  We just need to go to the Social Security office and get a letter explaining that he doesn't have an SS # because he isn't a US citizen.  Once we have that, we are home free!!!

I am still in a state of disbelief that I'll be a married woman in less than a week, but oh it's a nice feeling!

Great news! Awww.. I bet it feels great to have your fiance (almost husband!) by your side and know it will be permanent soon! I wish you two a wonderful wedding day and future full of happiness.  :)

Yeah, this is what DF called "showing the bloody obvious."  I think we might have still been okay, but one of the clerks at the registrar's office told me to do this and I'll jump whatever hoops they tell us to.  He had to wait in line for about an hour at the SSA, but he got the note, and we got our license today!!  The license part was super easy! They hardly looked at the note, which is a good thing since they goofed up his name on it, but we didn't want to wait another hour just to say "can you fix this?" at the SSA.  You should have seen the confused look on the county recorder's face when we told her the name of his county and state.  You could tell they were having a ball with this foreign guy with an accent (we don't get too many of those in small town Idaho), but they were perfectly berflummuxed by the Welsh spellings!  It was fun to see.

So it looks like things are happening--not long now!!  I can't wait to print my visa story in a couple weeks!
