I like to make a very traditional Thanksgiving, nothing too gourmet.
Here is what we are having:

Turkey (I have been using Alton Brown's recipe for years and it is always good)
Stuffing (my mom's recipe using bread and cornflakes and lots of veg)
Mashed Potatoes
Gravy
Cranberry Sauce
Baby Brussels Sprouts with Buttered Pecans
Pecan Pie (I'm trying the recipe from All Recipes that someone here posted)
Pumpkin Pie
French Bread Rolls

There are only 4 of us, but I am making a 10lb turkey to have left-overs for soup and other good things.

I'm going to someone else's for dinner, so fortunately I'm only responsible for the pecan pie(s) - to serve 20 ppl!

D'yknow, I vary it every year because I can't seem to keep my recipes organised, so end up looking for a new one each time... BUT... I think the last couple of times I've gone by the one on the back of the DARK Karo syrup bottle, BUT halving the syrup and using real maple syrup as well (i.e., instead of one cup of Karo, I use 1/2 Karo, 1/2 maple syrup), and I think that's what makes everyone love 'my' pecan pies ;)
If you need more detail, I'm happy to post it when I get home tonight.

Generally no.  But it depends on who you're inviting.  I think it's fine to ask family and close friends if they'd mind bringing/like to bring a dish.

A friend gave me some of her homemade pumpkin bread the other day. She had run out of sugar, so added some maple syrup to sweeten it. It was delish! Here's to maple syrup!  ;D

I've requested a friend of mine cook a chicken for me. LOL. We'll be having turkey, chicken and nut roast. I'm trying to accommodate for everyone but also make sure I've got enough food because Jon has just been soooo sweet and keeps inviting people. (insert murderous tirade here)

I was thinking of trying something different for the turkey this year and covering it with bacon. Anyone got any good recipes for this or any advice?

MIL told me last night that she just lays the strips over the carcass & roasts it all together.

I haven't been able to find a boneless, skinless turkey breast so I think I'm just going to go to M&S or somewhere like that and buy one ready to cook.  It's a shame cause I really wanted to make it from scratch.  Oh well.

I have seen turkey crowns but, truth be told, I wouldn't even know how to debone them  ::)  Besides, they were HUGE and I'm only cooking for two  :-\\\\
