1) I opened up a bank account with Natwest with no problems and little fuss. Feel a bit more permanent here now.
2) Registered with the local doctor, again with no problems or fuss.

Should I be worried that it was all so easy?  ;)

I didn't have any problems with getting a bank account or a local doctor here in the UK. my bank account is with NatWest as well. Congrats on getting 2 of the major things on your list done without any hassles & feeling a bit more settled here in the UK.  ;D  [smiley=2thumbsup.gif]

Thanks. It does feel good to feel a bit more permanent here and makes it more real as well. If only getting my national insurance number were as easy (I don't like the people you have to phone to set up an appointment, they're not very nice).

Oh believe me, the British passport makes things just a tad easier. It does seem to confuse people a bit when they see a British passport but here a very American accent. I'm just glad I had my bank in the US send statements to my UK address ahead of time. Proof of address was the absolute best thing and it made the day easier.

I did this the other day and had the nicest Scottish man help me on the phone. He was really nice and very helpful...some of the best service I've had in the UK, actually.

My 2:

1. My husband has today and tomorrow off from work.
2. The job application I thought was due today is due tomorrow.

Neither did i have any problems, but youve only to browse UKY to see tales of many, many people who struggle with this stuff.
