I did this and my employer provided me with assistance. But, it is completely up to the company on whether they do so and how much they grant. Others that I know who have the same position with different local governments received different relocation packages.

Instead of starting different threads with such general questions, it might be better to start a thread giving specific information about your situation then asking for feedback. There is a wealth of information available on this board but each person's circumstances and experiences are so different that if we knew what specifically you are looking for, it would be easier for us to respond.

Best of luck in your venture!

No assistance from employer for me, hence my other reply when you asked about moving expenses.  All on my own . . .
I leave for work at 7:10 each morning, and get home at 6:00 each evening.  Wish I could stay home all day and do nothing but sit around on UKY!  What a life!  And I have no Internet access in my classroom, so I can't just stop teaching and surf UKY.  Can you believe it??  Horrid, my job!

I requested my transfer, and didn't expect anything from my employer. I was VERY pleasantly surprised therefore, when they paid my airfare, put me up at a hotel for a few weeks while I found a place to live, and provided me with a lump sum payment for moving expenses. I did have to sign a contract saying I would stay a minimum of 2 years to get the package, but since I had planned on staying 3 anyways, it was no big deal.
