I'm a spouse of a brit! It's official
« on: November 06, 2006, 09:01:31 AM »
And it wasn't easy  ;)

We ended up having to get married on the Thursday afternoon before our Saturday wedding due to a glitch in the whole marriage certificate thing in Pennsylvania. Apparently, in Lehigh County, you have to file the marriage certificate with the county after the wedding at the church (after you have the certificate from the county initially registered) in order for it to be official and legal. That meant we didn't have time to get to NYC (planned for the Monday morning after the wedding) and have a legal marriage certificate. So - my pastor did an emergency and private wedding for us in his office and my dad filed the certificate for us at the county so we'd have a legal document for my visa.

I can post more about the visa in the visa section - it was a breeze!

A few relatives now know, but very few knew for the actual day. It didn't diminish the romance or fun of the day, I got to do my vows for real twice!! We went to St. Lucia for 10 days, met some lovely ppl (both british and American) and had some traveling after that and are finally home. I'm still getting over the jetlag and now have to start my CV process and look at getting a real job. I'm very happy overall and very glad to relax after the whole weddding :)

Congratulations Andrea! I felt so bad for you that week--glad to hear that it all worked out. When you didn't post here, I was assuming that it had all worked out, and that you were enjoying your honeymoon! Glad to see I was right.

We're having a UK reception this Saturday, and while I'm looking forward to it, both my husband and I are so ready to have everything wedding related out of the way. Married life is great, and we want to relax and enjoy it.

We have not had time to scan or download our own pics just yet. I will have to change my profile pic once that's done :)

thank you guys  :D

It was a surreal day and everything went well - all the hiccups were before the day, making the actual day one big whirlwind of events that all came together after months of hard work and planning. I am very grateful that it went as well as it did.

I can't wait to get our pictures blown up and printed.
