Making the move with 14 yr old
« on: February 07, 2004, 08:31:17 PM »
Hi everyone!

I am a new member and have been reading through the many posts. I am hoping to move to the UK in August with my 14 year old daughter. (I will be moving on a Fiancee' Visa--hopefully!!)

Couple questions (okay really a milliong questions but will start with just a couple).

1-- Do I need to fill out a separate Visa form and pay for her also?

2-- Do I have to have sole legal custody, or would permission from her father be good enough?

I know these are Visa/Immigration type questions couldnt decide where to post..thought the parents would know best.

Last question (for now anyway) to those that made the move with childre how have they adjusted to the move, new schooling system etc.

Thanks for any advice!!!

Hiya HG. :) I don't have any answers but I know several people here have gone through this experience, and they'll pop in soon enough. :) Welcome to the boards though, and feel free to post in the Welcome Wagon area so we can get to know you better! :)
I'm done moving. Unrepatriated back to the UK, here for good!

Yes – she will need her own visa and you will have to pay extra for it.

Permission from her father (a notarized letter) is good enough.

Ditto to Missy's answers - except I moved with 2 boys (now ages 15 and 10) and no girls!  ;)  But they've both more than adjusted - they've assimilated!
