UK Food labeling
« on: November 26, 2006, 09:13:09 AM »
Since this topic has come up....

Anyone want to discuss?

Is it illegal to sell food past the 'SELL BY' date? Looks like it is but are there exceptions?

Does all food have to list nutritional data, ie calories, fat, fibre, sugar, carbs etc?
If so why do some items have it and others don't.

How accurate are these labels?

MODS - please move or redirect if there is a topic already.

It's not illegal to sell past it's 'sell by' date, but it is illegal to sell past the 'use by' date.

This is a good link.

This is what I wanna know. I've noticed some generic labels don't have any info on them, that drives me nuts. It was a sainsbury's brand mayo that I'm thinking of. I actually called them, (the store) and they said I would have to call somebody else to get the info.
