I've been following this! Uh-oh is right. But I have a slight issue with it - the programme was pre-recorded, which meant that the producer(s) must have made the decision to air it. Although it was a silly thing for Russell Brand and Jonathan Ross to do, it never had to be heard at all if the BBC had really thought it was out of line. Granted, Andrew Sachs would still have been subjected to the boys' foolishness but, if I have the facts right, it only became an issue because 27,000 listeners complained, not because Sachs did. And most people seem to agree that the BBC shouldn't be airing stuff like this ... so why did they??

Those are all good points Chary.

As I understand it two listeners complained after the show was broadcast (and they complained the Ross swore rather than about the call.)  The other 26,998 complaints came days later after the Mail published a 'moral crisis of the week' story and whipped up a frenzy amongst the Disgusted-in-Tunbridge-Wells crowd.

P.S. That obviously doesn't make it right to make sexually-explicit prank calls to a Pensioner.

This whole Russell Brand, Jonathan Ross things is absolutely ridiculous. I cannot believe how blown out of proportion this has become! It is seriously laughable that this is top news and that so many people are 'outraged' by the incident. The fact is that they prank called a comedic actor. What they said was silly, stupid and maybe even offensive, but the fact is, the BBC aired it, they are the ones that should take responsibility for the fall-out and not pin it on their hired personalities that were hired for just that... their outrageous personalities.  ::)

rant over...  ;)

Well, it is according to The Sun, so consider the source. But I actually wouldn't be surprised if it were true. Read all the wackiness here.

I love that he couldn't shout at her.  Only someone who inspires a lot of shouting would think to put that in there!
